Camp Haccamo is cancelled this summer due to the Coronavirus. Rochester Rotary has closed Sunshine Campus at least until the fall. President Bob plans to recognize by name all the "kids of club" who helped this Rotary Year be as successful as it was. He'll therefore be making an effort to capture the names of every current or previous club member child, grandchild, great grandchild, niece, nephew, god child, etc. under the age of 21 who participated in one or more events/projects this past Rotary year. He wants to be careful to be inclusive and make sure he doesn't miss anybody, but the intent to recognize who in reality are the future generations of Rotarians. This isn't a scholarship, or award . . .it will be a time for reflection and thanks to the kids in our respective families. Yes he knows there are many other kids who don't have family relationships with current or past members who helped us . . .but he wanted to take this moment for this installation dinner while he still has the gavel to express thanks to the kids of the club. 3rd Grade books will be distributed by the school on moving up day scheduled for June 22.
The Playhouse project final report has been submitted into the District so we anticipate the receipt of the grant money soon. Next week's meeting on June 3rd, we will induct Jill Orologio, Elena DiPrima and Andrea Sauer via a zoom meeting. Should be interesting! The Food Delivery for Residents project has more volunteers than people needing service. President Bob will check with senior homes to see if there is interest and Lynn Wozniak will check with AARP in Irondequoit. 4th of July Parade and Festivities are all cancelled in Irondequoit so we will need some other reason to have Kenn Van Dieren become Uncle Sam... Dues for next year are due into Treasurer Kenn Van Dieren. You should have received a letter from him. Payment plans are available. Dues were raised slightly to cover increases from Rotary International, etc. It's looking like the Install Dinner may be held at Strathallan as they expect to be able to accommodate us with appropriate social distancing measures. VP Tom Kosanke will send out a survey of members to see if people are comfortable with this and to judge attendance. |
