Aaron Johnson led us in a review of the Strategic Plan that was developed a few years ago. Intent is to update the plan and create a new prioritized list of action items for the club to work toward. In a warm-up session, members shared Holiday stories based on pictures from their phone. Terri Bastuk had a lovely dinner meeting with Ukranian refugees and President Dan's daughter had a wonderful trip to Hawaii for the holidays. After individually reviewing the Strategic plan, members expressed their thoughts and comments on what is going well, what needs more work, etc. Lynn Wozniak took the action to capture the detailed notes of the ensuing discussion and will publish those for ongoing discussion but at a high level here are some of the take-aways: - We are doing well with recruiting new members and have completed many of the action items in this area from the previous plan, but Member Retention activities, especially with newer members is still lacking. Perhaps assign several mentors to each new member for period check-ins, etc.
- What happened to the list of Member Contact info that was annually created on hard copy booklets in years past??? This info is now all online included in our Clubrunner website and on the Clubrunner app that each member should have access. Anyone needing access should contact Jim Kozlowski for assistance. We should also review at an upcoming meeting.
- Rotary has done away with member "business classifications" but we should look at our current roster to see what professions are missing.
- Need to continue to make meetings interesting and inviting: good speakers, do more service related work at the meeting (e.g., do dictionary labeling at a meeting instead of a separate event).
- Terri Bastuk raised her hand to be Club Historian and would like to scan all old bulletins and other collect club memorabilia. Perhaps create a display at our Eastman Durand Rotary Cabin.
- Create a "Rotary Night" town event such as a concert, corn maze, or movie night to promote the club.
- Add to Dictionary project: something for parents
- Irondequoit Rotary "Sandwich Board" such as "Rotary at Work" or something similar to use use at events where we are doing community service.
- Assign Board Members or Committee chairs to focus on each of the Rotary Areas of Focus so we ensure positive momentum in each area.
Next step will be to review and prioritize the detailed list of actions that Lynn captured and assign members to initiate plans. |
