Proposed for Membership: Jeff Garcia, Financial Advisor, Spectrum Capital Management. Home Address: 102 Rawlinson Rd., 14617 Sponsor: Dave Shaheen Business Meeting tonight. Our District Simplified Grant application is due on April 1st. We have 3 options that we are considering: (1) Drug-Free Irondequoit: Together, (2) Angels of Mercy, and (3) No One Left Behind (Afganistan Refugee program). President Bob will summarize each option and send out email to members. Please review and get your comments into President Bob or another Board Member. The Board will vote on an option at the March 14th Board Meeting so that we have enough time to draft the application for the April 1st deadline. Next Wednesday we have our annual St. Patrick's Day party at St. Ann's at 1500 Portland Avenue. Please get there 6:30 - 6:45pm to help set up and bring the guests down to the hall. Angels of Mercy has their annual Pasta Dinner on April 22nd at Eastridge High School. Tickets are $10. Lots of great raffle prizes are expected to be auctioned off. There is a Rotary International project asking for each club to plant a tree. Cost is $35. Club voted to participate this year. We will decide where to plant it in the town. Our tree planted on the Town Hall last year apparently is not doing well so it might need replacement. Kenn Van Dieren is still collecting $28 from any member who is interested in participating in Rotary's $28 for 28 days in February for the RI Foundation. 13 members have coughed up the money so far. Monday April 9th is the next New Member's Meeting at Dick & Linda Butler's home. Starts at 6:30. Please invite a prospective new member to attend this informal informational meeting. Dick Butler reported that our Exchange Student Emil is having an "interesting" time in Paris. Great overall experience as she is learning a new culture and language. Emil will present her experiences to our club when she returns late summer or early fall. There will be a reception for a Ukrainian delegation at i-Square on April 15th at 6:30. Reception follows at St. Mary's Hall on St. Paul Blvd. Saturday, April 28th is the Ribbon Cutting ceremony at the ball fields for the scoreboards that our club donated for our 50th anniversary. Thursday, May 10th is United Way Day of Caring. Once again our club will tidy up the yard at the home at 58 Allwood Drive. All are asked to volunteer to help out. Rocco Leone was very pleased with the current happenings at Camp Haccamo. They had a very productive board meeting last night and a successful year financially due to the sale of the land in Penfield. Still need support from more clubs and "non-Rotary" donations. Our annual club High School Scholarship process is underway. Lee Steinfeldt is contacting the high schools to obtain scholarship candidates. |
