Tonight was our first ever phone conference meeting due to the Coronavirus. The technology has improved to a point where many members were able to log in and participate. President Bob is asking for ideas on how our club can help our members or our community in this time of need. All club monies not encumbered at this time are being freed up to help. Lynn Wozniak notified us of a situation with Girls Scout cookies being available so the club will buy 100 boxes for $500 and give half to Rochester General Hospital staff and half to the Irondequoit Community Cupboard. Our District Simplified Grant application (for next fiscal year starting on July 1st) is due April 1st. Thanks goes to Terri Bastuk who has prepared the application to support the Rochester Community Inclusive Rowing. This year's grant was for the Haccamo Playhouse so we will submit expenses incurred for the cost of the playhouse. All speakers will be cancelled through the end of April. Speaker hosts should contact speakers to confirm the cancellation until we can get back to normal. BJ Cunningham reported that Patty Sheridan has completed the calligraphy for the books our club will donate to students this year. We will wait for the schools to re-open before distributing the books. The Haccamo Playhouse will be purchased but no more investments will be made to free up money for any possible immediate needs. The Flagpole committee can continue planning but not spend money until further notice. Raise A Glass event originally planned for May 2 & 3 is postponed until the last weekend in July. This will move the Roc City Uncorked event from June 6th until sometime likely in October. Plans were made to stock the Little Libraries in town with board games, chalk, puzzles, coloring books, etc. for town children to keep occupied until school resumes. See Terri Bastuk for information on how to help. |
