Meeting Notes
Business Meeting tonight.

B.J. Cunningham is continuing on the mend but is still busy setting up Dictionary Days.  President Dan will send out the schedule in a separate email to the club.

The club has budgeted money to sponsor two RYLA students for this year's event June 30 - July 3rd.   See the District 7120 RYLA page for details on this youth leadership training.  We have yet to identify any Irondequoit high school students to take advantage of this opportunity but will continue to try.  In the meantime, President Dan has been approached to support a student who attends Wilson Magnet School and is very interested in attending RYLA.  The club voted tonight to sponsor this Wilson Magnet student for RYLA and to have the student attend a club meeting before-hand.  We will continue to look to sponsor one more student from Irondequoit.

Reverse Drawdown ticket sales are moving along thanks to Dave Shaheen and Lou DiPrima.  We would like to have more people at the dinner so please remember to sell dinner tickets in addition to Drawdown tickets.  The Spring Spectacular Raffle will be drawn at the dinner as well.  Please remember to put your name on the back of sold raffle tickets so we can ensure making contact with the winners.

Lynn Wozniak reviewed our club's financial position and all is well according to planned budget.  Great job Lynn!

We have several new members who still have money in the budget for their New Member Project.  Bob Scheidt had the idea that perhaps a few new members can pool their money to sponsor a Music Night that is planned for the Irondequoit Town Hall gazebo on August 1st.  It will be a way for our club to sponsor a fun evening for the local community and also reach new prospective members.  Bob took the action to get details on the event and share it with the club.

Next week's meeting on April 24 with Ronald McDonald House will either be at the Sicilian Sports Club OR at the Ronald McDonald House.  President Dan will notify the club members in a separate email.

There is still time to sign up for the District Conference this year in Saratoga Springs April 26-28.

President-Elect Greg Blair would like to re-establish the use of member name badges that had been a tradition for our club and is still for many other Rotary Clubs around the world.  It will help new members and guests to learn all members names.   Lou DiPrima took the action to dust off the old badges for those who have them (yes, he has that old black box...) and to order new badges for all other members.

Our May 15th meeting will be a Paul Harris Honors night and will be held at the Sicilian Sports Club.   Thirteen or so members have donated enough money over the years to receive Paul Harris Awards or PH+ Awards.  This is happening in large part due to our Foundation Chair Kenn Van Dieren who has been diligent (at least that's one word for it) in raising awareness of the Rotary Foundation to drive member donations.  Special thanks also to Lynn Wozniak for helping with all the details of tracking foundation donations from individual members so they receive PH credits.   Guests are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting.   We are looking to have a catered meal for the event (more details later) so cost of dinner may be more like $25 instead of the usual $20.  This is a proud and unprecedented moment for our club and we hope to have great attendance!  Folks being honored will be notified before the event so they can be sure to attend.  Congrats to all the new PH's and PH+'s!!

No Meeting on May 22nd because of the Drawdown Dinner the very next evening.

Kenn Van Dieren requested that we re-institute the practice of inviting the spouse and family of past club members to club meetings and events as we had done in the past.  Bob Schiedt took the action to
assemble a list of family members who still live in the area.

The Memorial for Rosanne Corrigan (Terri Bastuk-Corrigan's mother) is Saturday May 4th  at 11am at St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY.

The Great American International Wine Competition is May 4-5, 2024.  Volunteers are still needed.  Past volunteers have ensured that it's a very fun event.  See President Dan to volunteer.
