Business meeting tonight. The Board voted to approve Honorary Membership status to Les Kaszuba. As President Bob said in a separate email to Honorary Rotarian Les Kaszuba: For 35 years you have been instrumental in helping build Rotary’s mission as an active member of Rotary Club of Irondequoit. “Service above Self” embodies Les Kaszuba”. Many times you have said how Rotary is family. Your ability to light up an event with your natural entertaining talents is priceless. With the number of years of service, entertainment and commitment to Rotary it is with pleasure the Board has confirmed your request for “Honorary Membership”. Meetings will be held at Remington's for the rest of this Rotary year (end of June). The Board approved the creation of a new Rotary membership classification for our club called "Corporate Member." Dick Butler researched this classification and will amend the by-laws per the requirements he proposed and approved by the Board. Basics are: Dues will be $50 over regular membership; one person will be designated as Corporate Member and up to 3 others from the company can attend in the member's place; all other club requirements are expected by a representative of the company. Our club's long-standing $5 fine for missed meetings has been eliminated by the Board effective immediately. Passed sins have been pardoned. For entertainment reasons, there was discussion to make the snow birds "pay up" before dropping the fine... High School Scholars program is underway. The committee has selected a student from West Irondequoit but is still waiting for applications from Bishop Kearney and Eastridge. Lou DiPrima reports that 60% of the Drawdown tickets have been handed out and he's impatiently waiting for the money to come in. Please return the ticket stub with your money to Lou ASAP. Early Bird drawing of $150 for ticket money IN HAND by May 2. President Bob reported a nice evening visiting with the Ukrainian delegation last weekend. The Butler's are hosting one of the Ukrainian delegates. VP Dave Shaheen reported on District Training attended last week. Major initiatives by District to combat opioid epidemic. Many new ideas to increase membership was shared. Budget information was passed out and discussed. Donations to the club in memory of Pat Torre will be used to create a plaque in his honor and for Lap Robes for Veterans. The Past President's pin given each year at the Installation dinner will be now called the Pat Torre Past President Pin in his honor as Pat created these pins for many years. Another plaque will be created in honor of Dr. Russ Gugino to be installed at the offices of Angels of Mercy. Louis DiPrima updated the club about the new Rochester Rotary club call ROC City. Sounds like a fine group of young business people that Louis thought had many great new ideas for attracting younger members. |
