We welcomed visiting guests from Ukraine hosted by former club member Tamara Denysenko: Vakhtang Kipiani, Ukrainian journalist, historian, publicist, chief editor of Ukrainian Internet journal Historical Truth (Istorychna Pravda) and Ukrainian FCU CEO Oleg Lebedko. Also at their table was upcoming new inductee of our club Lily Lynch, also a Ukrainian and past Rotary exchange student. Dave Hannan, Past District Governor, is our speaker tonight. Lily Lynch and Debbie Renna-Hynes will be inducted as new members during our meeting on July 21. "NOMO VENMO" says new Treasurer Jason Miller. Please do not pay anything into Venmo until further notice. Jason is planning to set up an account from for the club and wants to move away from using personal Venmo accounts as payments to the treasurer. Carnival Night at Camp Haccamo was a success as reported by Ray Holla. No visiting Rotarians could attend due to covid restrictions but 60+ children with disabilities and 30 camp counselors enjoyed our bounce house and other carnival attractions. Raise A Glass event was well attended by 10 people associated with our club! All really enjoyed volunteering for this great cause. Next week is a Board meeting at 5:30 and Business Meeting at 6:15 at Tasteful Connections. Hold the date of September 1 as a possible date for a "Rotary on the Bluff" in Sodus at the Holla cottage. Details to follow. The "Gift Horse Beer Auction" will be held August 15-17 using the beer left over from the Raise A Glass beer competition. 7 clubs will be involved and profits will be split based on club participation rates set up by the committee. Lots of great ideas to spruce up the Camp Haccamo Playhouse. See Lee Steinfeldt with your ideas. The camp would like to add "Activities of Daily Living" (ADL) such as kitchen utensils and regular household items that the children can play with to learn and be creative. Another idea was a floor to ceiling chalkboard that can be used by the children to draw features such as fireplace or book shelves or family photo walls. |
