Meeting Notes
Meeting notes taken by Terri Bastuk this week.  She does so well, she should do it EVERY WEEK!!  :)

Drawdown:  Tom sent out the rules and Zoom link this past weekend. He will send out again on Thursday.

Twenty people volunteered to spruce up the Sunset House. A separate surprise shower was held for Andrea and our first “Rotary baby”.

The Irondequoit Rotary Lighthouse is getting some much-needed TLC with club planned plantings and placards. More to come on volunteer opportunities.

Program Notes

Our Guest Speaker tonight was Patrina Freeman, Chairperson of ICARE, Town of Irondequoit Councilwoman.  The Town of Irondequoit in October 2020 formed the Irondequoit Commission Advancing Racial Equity (ICARE) to continue to make the Town welcoming and equitable to everyone who lives here. The commission has administrative support from the Town but does not have a budget at this time.  The ICARE Board is made of twenty-two members: Residents, Students, Community Stakeholders andTown Director of HR and the Police Chief. ICARE is chaired by two residents in addition to Patrina.

Much of the group’s efforts will be about having conversations within the Town, reviewing, identifying, and recommending policies, procedures and practices for the Town Board’s consideration that will make the Irondequoit community more equitable. Charge is simple: To advise, promote, empower and educate.

As mentioned in previous meetings, the Club submitted a District Grant proposal to assist ICARE. The proposal will help them develop a website and provide leadership training to the three (3) student representatives on the commission, and supporting its first Community Forum in the Fall of 2021. The website will help with education and reflection. The final piece of the proposal is youth leadership development in which students will attend forums.  Click to learn more about ICARE.

Contributions/Fines
Fines for the Sunset House volunteer workers, everyone’s good health (Kim, BJ, Bernie, Rob), Norbert’s meal train and the hard work on the drawdown.
