  For the first time ever, Irondequoit Rotary held a new member induction via a Zoom conference. Dave Long was inducted by Guy Kittelsen and his sponsor is Lee Steinfeldt. He was pinned by his wife Lindsey. Dave is department administrator (Dermatology) at the U of R Medicine. Dave and Lindsey have 3 children: Ben (11 yo), Matt (10), and Erin (7). Dave serves on the West Irondequoit School Board and is active in a Neighborhood Association. Welcome Dave! May Rotary be as great to you as it has been to all of us in our club! Our guests tonight included: District Governor Dave Hannan, Immediate Past District Governor Mike Slovak, and District Governor Nominee Janet Tenreiro. It was nice to have such great representation from the District 7120 for our first ever video conference induction. Membership update: Jill Orologio will be officially inducted upon the return of snow/love birds Dom and Marilyn Fantauzzo. Timing is dependent on when they can get back to New York. Hopefully soon! Elena DiPrima and Andrea Sauer have submitted their membership applications and will be inducted in the near future TBD. Haccamo Playhouse project update: Manufacturer of playhouse is on schedule for a May 14th delivery. President Bob is pursuing a donation for the stone base which needs to be in place at the camp before the playhouse arrives. All is in progress and looking good. No need for volunteers at this point until we get the social distancing green light from the camp. Lee Steinfeldt reported on High School Scholarship program. Because schools are out, things have been difficult to accomplish but there are 5 applications from Eastridge in so far. Have not received any applications from West Irondequoit or Bishop Kearney yet. President Bob reviewed plans for partnering with an Irondequoit Neighborhood Association to assist those having difficulty buying/getting food. Dave long is following up with his neighborhood association. Idea is that club member can help those who have resources to buy food but have trouble getting to the store. President Bob also reviewed plans for a Raise-A-Glass Hand Sanitizer Phase Proposal he is following along with Dan Dwyer. Phase 1 proposed to the Board April 28th – donate bulk sanitizer to Chapel Oaks as token of our thanks to them. ($1430 for 55-gallon drum with pump, delivered). The club voted to approve this plan. Phase 2 was not yet formally proposed – buy a drum of sanitizer (with pump) and have a community event when safe to do so, to refill residents’ containers for a token donation to the club. B.J. Cunningham proposed that our club support a fundraiser being held in the name of Ted and Sue (Rinere) O'Brien. Sue's father Joe (deceased) was a longtime member of Irondequoit Rotary. Ted has been at RRH suffering from Covid-19. This fundraiser is to provide communication technology to all patients at RRH who need it to communicate with loved ones now and beyond Covid-19.
