Business Meeting tonight. President Dave thanked Kenn Van Dieren and BJ Cunningham for a very successful Dictionary Program this year. 580 dictionaries were handed out to 3rd graders in Irondequoit and this year Kenn added a few Rochester 3rd grade classes that was completed this week. Kudos to Kenn and BJ for their leadership and all who helped make the program successful. Kenn Van Dieren reviewed a very thorough budget and all is well with finances so far year to date. We have a healthy bank account with enough money to cover all expected payouts through the fiscal year ending in June. Expect the traditional overage to carry over into next year. Bob Scheidt reported that we have programs filled up through February. He sent out an email with remaining dates for those members who have not yet scheduled a program. Peter Mendick reported that his lawyers are drafting bylaws for our new 501(c)3 Foundation. Key is to mesh how the Foundation works in conjunction with the Club board. We will need to change how we collect and disperse funds in order to meet regulations for non-profit foundations. A suggestion was made to see how Pittsford Rotary works with their Foundation. The club voted to cancel the 12/26/18 meeting and to keep the 1/2/19 meeting on the calendar but make it a "social" meeting with no program (some mentioned needing recuperation time from New Year's celebrations). Bob Scheidt reviewed changes to our club by-laws. He sent out an email with all the changes so members can read before our December 19th Business Meeting where we will vote on the proposed changes. Our Holiday Basket Party on December 12th is all set. All those with responsibilities for the party have been informed. Hannah Kristensen, a student from Eastridge, has been approved to be our exchange student for next year. She will go to Taiwan in July. Hannah graciously helped out at our Pasta Dinner and she will make a great exchange student representing our club. So sad to hear the passing of our past District 7120 Area 10 representative Daryl Christensen. The club voted to make a donation in Daryl's name. Peter Mendick floated an idea to increase the Reverse Drawdown Dinner revenues by offering a nicer venue and better meal. Perhaps this would allow increasing price per person or allow us to sell 150 tickets instead of 100. Also reduce the amount we pay out for every 10th number. More work will be needed to nail down financials but the club thought it was worth pursuing this idea. |
