Meeting Notes
Welcome to Christina Miga (corporate designee member) and Joe DiPrima (Lou's brother).

The District Conference is coming soon.  Please register asap if you intend to attend.  Dave Shaheen may be going...  We will create a raffle basket for the conference.

Lots of great stories about the solar eclipse this week.  Over 300 people attended the Rochester Yacht Club event.  Jim Kozlowski had to contend with an Amazon Prime truck's headlights during the minutes of totality.  Lori attended an Eclipse Wedding.  All enjoyed the sudden darkness then daylight even though we had heavy cloud cover.

President Dan handed out raffle tickets.  Winners will be drawn at the Reverse Drawdown Dinner on May 23rd.   Tickets are one for $10 and three tickets for $20.  All members are asked to sell at least $60 worth of tickets. Proceeds to benefit Camp Haccamo and other area charities.

Dave Shaheen reminded all to keep selling tickets & dinner reservations for the Reverse Drawdown Dinner.  Fabulous dinner planned including Prime Rib and Chicken French at Ridgemont Country Club.

Program Notes

Mitch Carr from Intervol updated us about the happenings at our neighbor Intervol.  Mitch is a Sustainability Coordinator at Intervol.  Intervol was co-founded by two doctors who wanted to SAVE LIVES AND SAVE the ENVIRONMENT.  They accomplish this by collecting and repurposing unused medical supplies/equipment which keeps them out of landfills.   Healthcare is a leading source of waste in the U.S. with over 7,000 tons of waste each day!  In 2023, Intervol collected nearly $1M in supplies/equipment, generated over 4000 volunteer hours and sponsored 2 medical trips -- all having an impact both locally and globally.  Intervol works with many other non-profits such as American Cancer Society and Veteran's Outreach Center to accomplish their goals.  Impact from Intervol is also seen in over 80 countries worldwide.  Belize is the main travel location for their Volunteer Medical Professionals program.  In addition to healthcare, Intervol also collects and redistributes school supplies.  Intervol has a special arrangement and supports a school in Haiti.  Volunteers are always needed to collate and box materials for shipment.  Materials can be dropped off Tuesday & Thursday from 8:30-4pm.  Appointments for dropoff are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.   Our club may set up a group sorting event to help out.  Aaron Johnson was interested in partnering with Intervol for student volunteering and unused school supplies collection.  See the Intervol Website for more details on volunteer opportunities and lists of materials acceptable to donate.
