There was a full house at the Sicilian Sports Club as Irondequoit Rotary recognized the three senior scholarship award winners. Many friends and family showed up to support the “Service Above Self” recipients.
Bishop Kearney High School - Adelina Santiago. Addy will study nursing at Utica University with the desire to become an emergency room nurse. While at Kearney, she joined PIRA and participated in mock assemblies. Through PIRA, she learned the need to advocate for those who don’t have the opportunity to do so for themselves. She was very involved in BK radio broadcasting and hopes to be involved with the Utica University broadcasting group. Eastridge High School – Marshall Yannello. Marshal cited many high school volunteer projects including community trail clean-up, designing a bench for the Rotary Sunshine Camp, and creating a house for animals with disabilities. Marshall liked engineering and art classes so he combined his interests and will be going to the University of Buffalo to study architecture. West Irondequoit High School - Marin Penner. Marin will be going to Binghamton to study chemistry. She loves the subject and hopes to go into research. Marin attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) where she learned all about Rotary. She was active in band, orchestra, and student government at West Irondequoit and hoped to participate in the same activities at Binghamton. Many thanks to Rotarians Debbie Renna-Hynes who headed the committee supported by Bob Spatola |
