Truly memorable evening as we are proud to induct 3 new members - Elena DiPrima, Jill Orologio, and Andrea Sauer. All three have been associated with Rotary in the past and have now found it to be the correct time to give back to the community by officially joining Rotary. We couldn't be more proud as Jill and Elena are daughters of current members Dom Fantauzzo and Lou DiPrima (and brother to Louis, of course!). "It's a Family Affair" has always been our club mantra but never more than now! Guy Kittelsen, once again, led the induction ceremony in his typical elegant style. Happy to have many guests attend this virtual meeting: District Governor Dave Hannan, District Governor Nominee Janet Tenreiro, Stephanie DiPrima (all the way from Rome, Italy at 1am her time), Lori Spatola, Marilyn Fantauzzo, and Fran DiPrima. President Bob reiterated his intention of honoring all of those family members under 21 who have helped with Rotary this year at the Installation Dinner. Student Scholarship committee led by Lee Steinfeldt is hard at work and should have all scholars chosen for our $1300 award in time to have Scholars and family join our June 17th meeting (tentative date). Scholars at each of the 3 high schools will receive their award before then through the schools preferred method of distribution due to social distancing measures in place. The Joseph Arieno Scholarship Award is given to those graduating seniors who show demonstrated "service above self" over the course of their high school years. Last week's book distribution to the Kindergarten classes at Brookview was a wonderful success thanks to B.J. Cunningham who led the project and had help coordinating with Louis DiPrima. Thanks also to Patty Sheridan who shared her talents of calligraphy on the inside cover. All done in honor of Pat Torre, a past member who adored children and felt strongly about Literacy projects. VP Tom Kosanke will send out an email to the membership to gauge their interest in having the Installation Dinner on June 24th at the Strathallan. Please look for Tom's email and respond with your opinion as to go ahead or try other options. |
