Bob Scheidt has prepared a calendar of events that our club does annually. President Dave will send this out in a separate email and has requested that all members come to next Business Meeting with ideas for additions/deletions. The Business Meeting on August 15th will be a club assembly (airing of grievances...) so please come prepared with new ideas for improving how our club provides service to our community and the world. Treasury duties being picked up by Kenn Van Dieren who needs to get access to bank accounts. Current balance is healthy. Next week's meeting will include a vote on the At Large Board Directors: Dom Fantauzzo, Guy Kittelsen, Lynn Wozniak, Lee Steinfeldt, and Dick Butler. Please attend so we have a quorum. Our full request of a $1500 grants from the District has been approved. This is earmarked for Drug-Free Irondequoit: Together (DFIT), a town coalition helping to reduce youth substance abuse. Our club will additionally provide $1000 for a total donation of $2500. The money will be used to increase awareness in the town of the coalition's activities, resources, and services. President Dave asked that our club engages more with this coalition by providing sweat equity if needed. Jim Kozlowski, a member of the coalition board suggested a project that helps mobilize a "Hidden in Plain Sight" display that the coalition shows at events. This display is a teen bedroom which educates parents to recognize hidden drug paraphernalia. The exhibit is heavy and difficult to move so any ideas on how to make it mobile for demonstrations might be a good project for our club. DFIT will have the display at upcoming National Night Out (Aug. 1st) so we can all see it there. Sorry to report that Josh Zamiara and Chief Richard Tantalo have resigned from the club. Hopefully, it is only for a short while. Happy to report that Jason Miller has returned as a member of our club. Dictionaries are in possession of Kenn Van Dieren. He will schedule a "labelling" party sometime in late August before a regular club meeting so we can all help add labels to the books. |
