Welcome to our guest, Laeloni Wilson, West Irondequoit High School Interact Club. Dave Shaheen attended the District Conference in Saratoga and had a great time. Really liked seeing the Student Exchange program participants. He was able to drop off the eclipse glasses that were collected in Irondequoit to be sent to South America for the next eclipse. It was announced that our club received the District Grant which will be in support of the Notre Dame Learning Center. The May 15th meeting will honor 13 club members who have earned Paul Harris Fellowship and PHF+ awards from Rotary Foundation donations. The meeting will take place here at the Sicilian Sports Club. Dinner (chicken & pulled pork) will be catered and cost $25. All honorees will be notified so they can make sure to attend along with invited family & friends. All drawdown tickets have been sold! Thanks for everyone's participation. Keep selling dinners so we have a good showing. President Dan would like all members to solicit local businesses for gift certificates. These are needed for the Spring Spectacular Raffle baskets. B.J. Cunningham shared the following schedules that will wrap up this year's Dictionary Project. Helping hands are appreciated. It is not necessary to be present at every school. Please remember to have your driver's license with you as it needs to be scanned in at every school office. On Wednesday, May 22 we will be at St. Ambrose School at 9:00am. Please arrive by 8:50 to check in at the office. President Dan, Sal Abbasey, and Kenn Van Dieren were the diehard crew at the beach clean-up this past Saturday. Nice job guys! The Camp Haccamo Car/Truck/Cycle Show is Saturday June 1st. See Ray Holla if you would like to participate by bringing a vehicle or to volunteer to help out. Our club donated $250 to be a sponsor. New Member projects were reviewed. Steve Schwock, Lily Lynch and Greg Blair are pooling money to create Care Packages for the Irondequoit Community Cupboard (mostly hygiene products). This will include donation bins set up at Wegman's and the high schools. Plan to have the bins ready for donations in the fall in order to make the donations for the Holiday season. Lori Martinez's project will support Books for the World. Debbie Renna-Hynes is working on a RGH Neonatal Center Book Project and/or helping with Angel Cameras that allow parents to check in on their newborns. Issac Elliot is planning a project with Volunteers of America. Bob Kosinsky is looking into a service project to repair the bocce courts behind the SCC. New Business: Lynn Wozniak reports that RGH is collecting NEW bike helmets and gently used shoes. See Lynn to donate these items. |
