Meeting Notes

Guests tonight:  Haylee Horn, Veterans Outreach Center and Greg Goater, past club member.

NEXT MEETING:  Wednesday August 21st ===>> Annual Bocce' Steak Roast Picnic:  we will be meeting at Camp Eastman for a fun filled night with family and friends at 6:00.  We will have juicy steaks, corn on the cob and many other side dishes along with hot dogs for the young ones. Smores and dessert for later also.   The cost per adult will be $30.00 same as last year, children will be free not having their own steak.  Sign up is critical for Lou DiPrima to have accurate numbers to order the steaks and food, as always if you signed up and do not make it to the event you will still be expected to pay.  Please respond to Lou with the amount of adults and children.  This will be a social fun night so do not bring any potential members, save that for a regular meeting night.

Les Kaszuba had a great time August 2nd on the helicopter ride that his friend won at the Raffle at our Drawdown dinner.  Les brought friend Mike Falvo to share in the awesome experience!
Program Notes

Haylee Horn, Chief of Staff & Administrative Projects at Veterans Outreach Center (VOC)

Haylee joined VOC in 2021 after receiving her bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Rochester. As a student, she spent much of her free time working with nonprofit and community service organizations on campus, and after graduating she chose to continue her nonprofit work with Veterans Outreach Center. Haylee has served in multiple roles within the agency in her time there and is currently pursuing a master's degree in public administration from SUNY Brockport with a concentration in nonprofit management. As the niece, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter of Navy, Airforce, and Army veterans, Haylee is always excited to support VOC’s mission of serving those who serve U.S.

Veterans Outreach Center (447 South Ave.) started in 1973 by returning Vietnam Veterans, today’s Veterans Outreach Center remains anchored in our community and offers a comprehensive portfolio of supportive services designed to meet the needs of veterans and their families. Through the generosity of our community, all of these programs and services are provided free of charge and there is NO qualification requirement of veterans to receive services.  Services include:  Health and Wellness, Job Training, Peer Support, Legal Counseling, Rec Center (alcohol free), Crisis Intervention, Haircuts, Massage plus others.  There is also a Residential Service for homeless veterans.  Over 2000 veterans were served by VOC last year and there are approximately 100 served by the residential program.  Most funding for VOC comes from government grants but there are private grants and several fundraisers throughout the year.  Operating budget is $4M.
