Meeting Notes
Board Meeting will be on September 19th at 5pm at Remington's.  This will be followed by a regular club business meeting.

Ray Holla reminded all about Adult Weekend at Camp Haccamo. Our club will serve dinner to campers and staff at 5:30 on Saturday, Oct. 6th at the camp.  Ray is passing around a sign-up sheet.  Josie Waverly concert is Friday, Nov. 16th.  See Ray to get a spot at the club table.  We need donations for a raffle item at the dinner.  See Ray to contribute something for the gift basket raffle item.  Last year our club generated the most income for a raffle item.

Luisa and Wim Baars surprised us with a visit.  She was sorry should could not make the meeting last month when we heard about the water problems in Puerto Rico but was very thankful for our donation to the project.  All is moving along well with the project to fix wells and create new ones.  People are still suffering greatly so help is very much appreciated.  Luisa's son-in-law will oversee the project so we know the money is going to be well spent.

Be prepared to stay after the meeting on 9/19 to help out with labels for the dictionaries.  Kenn Van Dieren will bring all the dictionaries so many hands could make small work of putting all the labels in the dictionaries.

Luisa Baars attended our meeting and let us know that the Latin Club meets the 1st Wednesday of each month at the Irondequoit Library.

Program Notes
Becky Piccone is the Rochester General Hospital Volunteer Recruiter and a Sign Language Interpreter.  She is new to RGH herself so is still being indoctrinated now.  There are between 500-600 volunteers during the course of a year but more are always needed as the hospital expands.  Age is 14+ but volunteers age 14-17 have limited opportunities.  Main goal is to increase the level of comfort and reduce stress for hospital patients and families.  Volunteer jobs are navigators, escorts, wheelchair assistants.  Depending on your ability, you could walk very far or just sit at a desk.  Volunteers also needed for gift shop.  Volunteers needed in Emergency Room, Cancer Center, Pediatric lounge and the K9 program.  You could also be a Friendly Patient Companion and sit with patients, play cards, keep them company, etc.  They are looking for volunteers for the new outpatient services center at the old Tops Plaza.  Perks are free parking and membership at fitness center.  Best to register to be a volunteer online but can call at 585.922.3725.   Click HERE to visit the RGH Volunteer website where you can register.
