The "Foundation Minute" tonight highlighted that the worldwide infrastructure developed for eradication of Polio is now being heavily used to fight Covid-19. So the work and donations over the years by Rotary continue to bear fruit for the betterment of world health. Holiday Basket update: A skeleton crew packaged and delivered over 100 Holiday baskets to Irondequoit Community Cupboard last Wednesday. Everything went smooth thanks to the leadership of Elena Barbone and Terri Bastuk. Dictionary Project Status: B.J. Cunningham reported all books have been delivered including the "Marathon Monday" event that covered many schools on one day. Thanks to B.J., Kenn Van Dieren, Kim Miranda, and Bob Spatola who all pitched in to make the event a great success and bring smiles to all the 3rd graders in Irondequoit. Terri Bastuk thanked all who wrote letters for the Ukrainian Children's project. Shop with a Cop is Saturday, December 18th at noon at the Irondequoit Police Department. All are welcome to attend. Thanks to Louis DiPrima for coordinating the event for Rotary. Raise A Glass Wine Distribution: Tom Kosanke reported that 60 cases of wine/spirits were distributed to 8 participating Clubs. Special thanks to Kenn Van Dieren, Bob Scheidt and Judene Scheidt for assisting in the process. Doug Decker met with the Boy Scout troop we are sponsoring. They are very appreciative of our sponsorship. Doug and President Lynn will meet separately to finish up all the paperwork needed. Kudos to Lou DiPrima and Dave Shaheen for finishing the installation of all the Rotary signs around town! Our Long Term Strategy workshop will be January 29th at the Culver Ridge Fire Department. See President Lynn if you can attend. She would like to see more younger/newer members participate. We will all be sent a "Club Health Check" online survey soon. Results will be reported at our January 26th meeting and will be used in the workshop. President Lynn will discuss a project to help the Tornado victims at next meeting. |
