VP Bob Scheidt filled in for President Dave. VP Bob would like to reinstate the tradition of picking next year officers by the time of the Pasta Dinner, so watch out if you see him coming towards you... Lynn Wozniak has already agreed to serve as Secretary so VP Bob is off to a good start. In all seriousness, Bob would like new people to step up for officer positions so please see him if you are interested. He is also checking out locations for his Installation dinner and will have more info soon but plan on the last Wednesday in June 2019. Treasurer Kenn Van Dieren says our club finances are in good shape with sufficient funds to cover our expected outflows. VP Bob reported that "No One Left Behind" cell phone program that our club sponsors is going well. We have one new refugee coming soon and 2 others have completed the program and are now covering the cost of their cellphone use. The NOLB program was unfortunately cut from the US defense budget so we are not expecting many more refugees in the near future. In an effort to find new members, Membership Chair Dick Butler is asking all current members to wear their Rotary pins all week Nov. 4-10. Experience shows that in wearing your pin out and about, you get interest from prospective new members. It was also suggested to talk up the benefits of membership at the Pasta Dinner. Guy Kittelsen is recovering nicely from his surgery and thanks the club for their thoughts and prayers. Bob Scheidt will cover the program coordination in Guy's absence. Kenn Van Dieren reminded all of the Foundation Brunch on Nov. 30th. See him if interested in attending. Congrats to Kenn for receiving his 5th Paul Harris Award! What an accomplishment! Signups still circulating for Eastern Cities Dinner (Oct. 28) and Josie Waverly (Nov. 16). See Kenn. The Prince of Pasta Dom Fantauzzo announced that he will step down as chairperson of the Pasta Dinner after all these years. We will greatly miss his and Marilyn's leadership and coordination of this highly successful and primary fundraiser for 34 years. This dynamic duo cannot be thanked enough for their tireless efforts year in and year out with what has really become a 12 month effort. Although we will miss them, it is time for others in the club to step up and take leadership for this event. So far this year, we are behind in sales so we all need to make a big push to sell tickets in honor of Dom and Marilyn's last year at the helm. Our Christmas Basket event is confirmed for December 12th. |
