Meeting Notes

Therese Corrigan-Bastuk took notes tonight.  Thanks Terri!

Updates

There will be eight “I Rotary Ice Surfers” plunging on Sunday, February 1st at The Roger Robach Community Center, 180 Beach Avenue, Rochester, New York 14612.   The I Rotary Ice Surfers will have a table and snacks prior to the start of the event. If you want to attend the pre-party, text Brandon to find where the table is located.

The Irondequoit Winterfest will be on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, from 11 AM- 3 PM.  We will have a table in the Food Market Barn. We will have supplies for kids to make Valentine cards for the Legacy residents.  We should plan on being there at 10:30 AM.  Lynn is trying to recruit some Interact students.

The Valentines Day event at the Legacy will be either 2/11 or 2/ 18.  Lily is waiting to hear from the event coordinator who has been out sick.

The St. Patrick’s Day Party will be on Wednesday, March 11th at St. Ann’s.  Lily is waiting on confirmation from the Irish Dancers.

The 13th Annual Camp Haccamo- Car show will be on Saturday, June 6th with Sunday, June 7th as a rain date. If you are interested in showing your car, contact Ray.

There was discussion about holding a social event for potential new members. Brandon is looking to use the May date and then will lock it in.  It was suggested that we look at a joint event with the Chamber and hold it at an Irondequoit establishment like Murphs, Shamrock Jacks or O’Loughlins.

Program Notes

Business Meeting

The Pasta dinner books finally closed.  We took in $43.5k and made $39k in profit.  Lynn wrote a letter to the foundation for reimbursement. The foundation handles the bulk of the pasta dinner funds. Bob Scheidt said that the foundation board will approve the expenditures, and he will arrange a meeting soon. The foundation is looking for members to serve on the board of the foundation.  Bylaws state that members of the board can only serve for two years. Ideally officers of the club would eventually transfer to be Foundation similar to what was done with Camp Haccamo.

Kenn reminded members of the Veterans Group that they need to get together.

Tom and Lynn completed the grant training.  A project needs to be identified in the next few weeks. Some suggestions included:

  • Dick shared Town of Irondequoit is a designated Tree City USA community and we could do something to educate or celebrate this designation with plagues, etc.

  • Carl works with the Open Door Mission, and he was wondering what we could do to support the homeless. Steve suggested that we could collect sustainable items with boxes at different businesses to support the Open Door Mission. There were many suggestions on how to help, but it wouldn’t align with a grant.  There are a number of new member funds that could be used to help the Homeless and/or Open Door Mission.

Contributions/Fines

There were many dollars donated to the memory of Jerry Marzano, a past Rotary member.  Others recognized Dave and his years of friendship with Jerry.  Dollars for Lori Spatola, our guest, the plungers, Lynn’s efforts, and Peter Kelderhouse who was in RGH but is back home.  Kim shared that she is going to be a grandmother and a trip to Barcelona.
