Border Patrol

Our first speaker was  JUSTIN KEERNER  who is stationed at our local Border Patrol Station, which has a staff of 30 officers.  Border Patrol in our area is kept busy apprehending smugglers and traffickers and others involved in illegal activity.  We do not have much illegal immigrant activity in this area.  The Border patrol works with the local Coast Guard station, local police, ICE and Homeland units. Justin was previously stationed in Texas and attached to “small” unit with around 500 officers.  He told stories of apprehending people in desert, and how different it is up here on the lake.  

Angels of Mercy

MARY JO COLLIGAN gave the Club an update on the Angels of Mercy organization which has gotten ever more involved in anti-trafficking activities of women and girls locally and globally.  They continue to have their boutique and other services to help women who have escaped from abusive situations, addiction and homelessness get back on their feet.  They partner with over 100 agencies in the area.   In addition, their Dress a Girl program which sends dresses to girls in third world countries so they can go to school and work safely has provided over 1,000,000 dresses to girls around the world.  All are invited to the Angels of Mercy  “Denin and Diamonds” gala on Sept 13, 2025.    The club was pleased to present Angels of Mercy with a $500 donation check.
