Meeting Notes

Busy weekend: As a club, we placed stickers in the dictionaries, celebrated Bob Scheidt's musical talents, stopped by the Boy Scout's "Trunk or Treat," worked many hours preparing and selling for the pasta dinner, and helped (minimally) Jeff from Irondequoit Landscape install a beautiful walkway at our Haccamo playhouse.

Membership: Dick Butler welcomed his guest and prospective new club member, George Ehlert, who has an impressive Engineering background, recently relocated to Irondequoit, and is searching for a new retirement passion.

Save the date: On Veterans Day, Friday, November 11th, at 9 a.m., we will hold a breakfast for veterans at Eastern Ridge Family Restaurant (next to UHAUL - 1925 East Ridge Road, Rochester, NY 14622). Our veteran's group would like to invite all club members to join us in celebrating Veterans Day. Les can make arrangements with the restaurant if you email him at tuxcor@rochester.rr.com.

Rotary Foundation Update: Kenn Van Dieren reminds us that November is ROTARY FOUNDATION Month, and he has many opportunities for us to help. This week, we began with $0.38 in honor of Major-General Norbert Rappl. We will renew Don Alhart's "Give Me Five" campaign next week and donate $5.00 to the cause. Following that, we will return the $26.50 that Arch Klump gave when he officially established the Foundation in 1917. Week Four (4) will recognize all $100.00 donors that want the extra points. After four years, he is out of points; therefore, this is likely the last time Kenn can do this. And in Week Five (5), PDG Dave Hannan (the District Foundation Chair) will be the guest speaker for the evening. He will also deliver the Paul Harris Plus award pins we have accumulated.

Interact: Irondequoit High School's club is doing exceptionally well! There are now about 20 members. They meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month. They are studying everything they can about Rotary and organizing their key events.

Senior Activities: On February 8th, BJ Cunningham is planning a Valentine's Party at the Legacy. She has lined up Jason and Bob Scheidt to provide musical entertainment. St. Patrick's Day at St. Ann's is still TBD - many challenges remain with having too many visitors, but BJ is working with St. Ann's to find a successful resolution.

Last Minute Pasta Dinner Planning: Bob Scheidt has sent out a work schedule for everyone. It should be self-explanatory. See Bob if you have issues. Sales have lagged the previous year, but a flurry of activity makes us optimistic that we will meet or exceed last year! There will be 50/50 pie sales ($15 per pie) in the parking lot.
Contributions/Fines
Many contributions to Foundation, Pasta Dinner work, Dictionary sticker project thanks to Lou DiPrima, and Camp Haccamo work by Jeff Reisenberg. BJ Cunningham is celebrating an anniversary! Congrats to Bob Scheidt for his performance this weekend. Thanks to Bob Spatola and Lou DiPrima for placing a large Pasta Dinner banner outside BK.
