Meeting Notes
Bernie Rappl Farewell Dinner:  In lieu of our weekly meeting on Oct. 5th, there is a Farewell Dinner for Bernie Rappl at the Rochester Yacht Club starting at 5:30.  Email Peter Mendick if you can attend.  The club is working to create a plaque for Norb to be located at our Camp Eastman lodge.

Pasta Dinner – Nov 6th .: Tickets distributed to members - see Bob Scheidt if you need tickets.  Cost of individual tickets is $10. Any one donating or buying tickets for $100-$240 is a sponsor. $250 or more is a Friend of Rotary. All sponsors and friends of rotary will be listed on our website and included in the handout to be given out at Pasta Dinner.  Please get ticket money and sponsor information to Lynn Wozniak, 59 Bay Knoll Rd, Rochester 14622.  518-813-7158.  Committee also asks that NO ONE purchase or promise anything for the Pasta Dinner without clearing it with the committee first. Thank you.

Interact Club:  Merchandise (Chapsticks, lanyards, Stress Eagle) with logos for "Irondequoit High School Interact Club" were shown at the meeting and will be used at several upcoming functions to start the club.  Good news that a faculty member has stepped up to be an advisor for the club which is a requirement.

Irondequoit Rotary Foundation:  the foundation board is looking to add new member(s) and perhaps make a move to another accounting firm.  More in the near future.

Eastridge Homecoming Parade:  club is considering  our involvement.

Camp Haccamo Playhouse:  Jeff Reisenberg will create accessibility to playhouse and we need to keep furnishing the interior.

Our very own Bob Scheidt will be playing piano in a new band on Oct. 29th.  More details later.

Program Notes
Devon Reynolds from Brothers & Sisters Salon updated us on his salon business and charitable organization, Sweet Ida Mae's Pantry which provides food and other services to the local communities in the Dewey Ave and the newly established Lyell Ave area of Rochester.   The food pantries provide soup/sandwiches Monday-Thursday for anyone needing food.  There will be a Neighborhood Safe Event (Driving Park to Electric Ave. on October 31st from 5-8pm).    The annual Thanksgiving Grocery Giveaway is being planned so he will need turkeys again this year.   Fresh fruit and veggies are also needed to provide healthy nourishment.   Besides food, the pantry needs winter clothes (hats, gloves, clothing).  Devon has a "staff" of 7 people who help him run the charity.  It feeds at least 15 families per day.  He is hoping for a grant from RRH for $20,000 to help with all his expenses.  Current expenses are paid by the profits from his Salon.  An "Adopt A Shelf" concept is being started and needs promotion and advertising.  Besides food, Devon's charity runs community events to promote peace and reduce gun violence in Rochester.  He is personally impacted by gun violence on almost a weekly basis and shared several heart-breaking & tragic stories from his community.  He and his staff are a shining light that needs our support!
