Meeting Notes
The club approved a motion to support the Puerto Rico Clean Water project with a $1000 donation.  This is an international Rotary International grant project led by Greece Rotary and San Juan Rotary.  RI provides 50% of the $100,000 needed.

We will participate in the I-Square Fall Festival and the club approved $250 budget to support our effort.

The meeting on August 22nd will be Bocce' Night at Camp Eastman.  Be there at 6pm

Louis DiPrima led the effort at National Night Out a few weeks ago.  Turnout this year seemed a bit lower than previous years but our balloons were a big hit and went fast.  He could have used a few more helpers during cleanup and next year will ask for a better position for our table.

Dave Shaheen will send out an email of where we will have our club meeting on August 29th.    The Program that night will be given by Jim Kozlowski.  He will review our member's access to our club's website and mobile app.  He offered to take portraits for any member who would like to add their mugshot to the website.

During our Assembly, we had several ideas for new projects or updates for ongoing projects:
1)  Crafters Who Care - need to get them a check for last year and then we will have them come and give another presentation to the club.  2) Camp Haccamo would like an Amish type playhouse for younger kids for creative play.  Bob Scheidt will present costs to our club as a possible hands on project that will have lasting impact at the camp.  A pre-fab kit would be purchased and the club would assemble it at the camp,  Goal would be to have this ready for next August camping season.  There was discussion to apply for a District Simplified Grant for this project but timing may be difficult.  3) Inclusive Rowing for Veterans was another charity we discussed getting more involved in helping.  4) Volunteers are needed to be Train Conductors at Camp Haccamo next year.  Interested members should see Dolly Kujawa for training dates.
Program Notes
Emel Terzioglu relayed her experiences as an exchange student in France.  Our club sponsored her trip as part of the District 7120 student exchange program.  She stayed in a small village in the north of France near Luxembourg.  Three families served as host families.  Integration into French school and families was not always easy.  She learned many life lessons from having to deal with culture shocks and feelings of being an outsider.  She learned to become more confident, be honest with people and learned to listen and understand each other.  Friendships take work on both parties.  Rotary meetings in France were much more formal than here but she loved making friends with all the other exchange students.  Emel was able to take 2 extended trips across Europe during her stay that were fantastic especially when her family was able to join her.  She loved the experience and plans to go back as soon as she can.  She was very thankful for our support and the work we do.  She will be attending St. John Carroll University in the fall to start her college career.  We all wish her best of luck as she is an outstanding young person!
