Meeting Notes
Application for Membership:  Kim Miranda, Commercial Real Estate.

Next Week's meeting is the joint Chamber/Rotary meeting at Durand Eastman Kusak Lodge.  Networking starts at 5:30.  Cost is $30.  Rocco suggested we have a table with Rotary info for Chamber members that might be interested in joining Rotary.

June 19th meeting is at Chapel Oaks Library Room (1550 Portland Ave).  Go to the back of the St. Ann's complex for the Chapel Oaks entrance.  Our Scholarship students and families will be at this meeting.  This site is used by the Chamber for last 2 years, and has an outstanding menu and a brand new full adjacent barroom with wine, beer and liquor cash bar. Coffee, salads, entrees, desserts and soft drinks included for our same $20 meal costs.  This is a test run as we are looking to find a new venue because Remington's is changing hands and will be closed for 6-8 weeks.

2019/2020 Installation Dinner is Wednesday JUNE 26th, 2019 Dinner at the Dolomite Lodge in Penfield (1628 Jackson Rd, Penfield, NY 14526).  5:30pm – 8:30pm  Cost: $50 per person. Any excess will go to our Haccamo Project.  Sit-Down Catered: 3 Dinner Selections: Chicken (Gluten Free), Fish, Vegetarian and Soup, Salad, Soda, Dessert, Coffee Included.    Bob is passing around a sign-up for volunteers to help bring items to the dinner.

For Something Different :
 To control cost, on Monday June 24th at Bob & Judene’s we are seeking
member volunteers to prepare antipasto trays with club reimbursement as
social event.
 Liquor Pot-Luck: Dig out those open bottles from your liquor cabinets and
bring them along. We’ll have a table for “self-serve”. Mixers, olives, limes,
lemons, Ice will be provided. (LWYOL – leave with your own liquor, if any left)
 Bring Your Vinyl: Dig out those old Vinyl records. Turn-table, Stereo & 80’s
vintage big box speakers will be provided.

Reverse Draw last week was a big success largely due to the leadership of President Dave Shaheen.  New venue atmosphere was very well received.  Thanks to donors for the "every 10 number" prizes, Ridgemont's willingness to negotiate prices,  and the big winner giving back 50% of the money, we should clear a new record profit for the event.  Kudos to all who helped make it such a great success!

Program Notes
Chris Sekula is our newest member.  Chris is 28 years old and grew up in West Irondequoit graduating from WIHS is 2008.  He was sponsored by Louis DiPrima who has been a long-time friend.  He joined Rotary because he wants to give back to his community especially since the birth of his children.  Wants to role model for them the way Lou DiPrima did for Louis!  Chris's wife, Kirsten,  is a social worker for the VA.  They have been married 2 years.  They have two sons: Silas (almost 5) and Danny (14 months).  Chris owns "Sekulas" Painting Contractor business for 3 years now.  Started as an apprentice to a family business that split up and he eventually picked up that business.  Has 4 employees and loves being an entrepreneur.

Working with Kirsten, Chris would like to start a new club project where we provide a "reprieve" for caregivers of the vets that Kirsten sees every day.  Thinking is that the Vets receive benefit from the VA but the caregivers are often overlooked.  They will put together a more formal proposal but think it would be great to give the caregivers a night out and our club provides the caregiving for the vets that evening.

Welcome Chris!  Great to have a young person come into the club with such great enthusiasm for helping others.
