Meeting Notes
President Dave thanked Peter and John Mendick for their work on competing the 501(c)3 filing with the IRS.  We are all set to move forward with a not-for-profit foundation.  Peter is setting up the banking accounts so we can start looking for donations.

VP Bob Scheidt sent out an email requesting members to sign up for upcoming club speaker programs.  Get your dates and speaker/topic info to Bob so we can post it to our club calendar.  See our club calendar by clicking HERE.

Les Kaszuba is collecting gifts for use at the 50/50 raffle during the Pasta Dinner.  You can drop off any item you wish to donate to Les's store at 2040 E. Ridge Rd.  We have collected around $200 worth of gifts to raffle so far.

Red Cross would like us to volunteer to run a Blood Drive.  President Dave to look into more details so we can make a decision on pursuing this.

Rotary  District Grant Seminar is Dec. 8th.  Kenn Van Dieren will attend and we need one other member to attend in order to be eligible for District Simplified Grant.  President Dave will check with Terri Bastuk as she has been leading the grant effort in recent years.

Last Dictionary give-away is this Friday at 9am at Laurelton Pardee.  Kudos to BJ Cunningham and Kenn Van Dieren for leading this effort which has been extremely well organized and successful.  Bob Spatola commended BJ for her ability to communicate with the 3rd graders.

Dom Fantauzzo sent out an email with everyone's responsibilities for the Pasta Dinner this weekend.  Come on time and bring friends to help out as we are short staffed again this year.  NO TAKE-OUTS AFTER 4PM this year!  Absolutely No Exceptions (unless the Prince of Pasta ok's it...)

VP Bob Scheidt says that next year's slate of officers is taking shape and will be complete by the conclusion of the Pasta Dinner and will be published Monday November 12th.   This effort brings back our club tradition of our Pasta dinner bringing us all together while also confirming our leadership for the coming year.

Program Notes
Dave Stickney, from Boy Scouts Venture Crew 247 was our speaker this evening.  Dave is a PENN STATE grad and has been associated with scouting for many, many  years as his kids went through all the different levels of scouting.  As Scout Master in Irondequoit, he grew his troop from 2 to 40 kids over time.  He saw a difference in that some youth needed more adventure so he started the Venture Crew in Irondequoit.

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 through 20 years of age.  Venture Crew started in the 1930's.  Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.  It's mission is really character-building more than anything else.  Youth run the program as leaders.  Dave and other adults are called "advisors" to just help mentor the youth leaders.  Their activities include backpacking, biking, climbing and soon to do some rafting and other water adventures.  There is also a Service orientation in Venturing so Dave's group will be helping with clean up at our upcoming Pasta Dinner.  Kudos to Bob Spatola for making this arrangement with Dave.  We look forward to an ongoing relationship with Venture Crew 247.
