Meeting Notes
Tonight is a Business Meeting

Senior Events:  Lily Lynch reports that the Valentine's Day Party at Legacy at Cranberry Landing was a great success.  Kudos to Lily for hiring a singer & pianist as residents really enjoyed the event,  See more info HERE.  St. Patrick's Day Party is March 13th at 6:30 but be there around 6-6:15 to help set up.  Rochester Academy of Irish Dance will perform.

Dictionary Program:  B.J. Cunningham is busy arranging dates with the schools for distribution.  Christ the King is scheduled for March 7 at 9:30.   More to come!

AED Defibrillator:  Next week's meeting is a program on this life-saving machine.  The club voted tonight to approve a donation of  $1200 towards the purchase of a new $2100 AED Defibrillator that will be installed in the Sicilian Sports Club.

Irondequoit Rotary Foundation (IRF):  Bob Scheidt reports that our accountant has confirmed that IRF is legally able to donate funds to Irondequoit Rotary.  Each year an invoice that shows intended expenditures from the club (i.e., our budget) will be required.

Budget:  Finances are in good shape thanks to the diligence of treasurer Lynn Wozniak.  A line-item review of the budget was made and a good discussion was held.  Some puts and takes were made.

Spring Raffle:  President Dan reviewed a draft plan discussed at the recent Board Meeting.  Plans are for a raffle to be held from early April to mid May to replace the $2000 revenue we had been generating from ROC City UnCorked the last few years.  Tentative plans are for $10 tickets/3 for $20.  Winning tickets pulled at May 23rd Drawdown at Ridgemont.  Grand prize is a golf package for golf at local private courses.  Other prizes include: helicopter tour and themed gift baskets.  Will also use 2 cases of spirits and 10 cases of wine from last year's ROC City UnCorked for the gift baskets.

Habitat for Humanity (HFH):  The Newark Rotary Club has a project with HFH to build a house.  They are looking for other clubs to pledge money so they can secure total funding needed from the organization.  Our club voted to donate $1000 to this effort if the Newark clubs funding goal is met and the project is approved by HFH.

Raise a Glass Beer Competition:  Next weekend at RIT Inn & Conference Center.   Full and half-day volunteers are needed both March 2nd and 3rd for the following duties (breakfast and lunch provided):-Pullers / openers / removal of entries form pouring tables (requires walking, bending and some lifting)
-Entry pourers (requires walking and bending)
-Glass washer (mostly standing)
-Floaters who can help with water changing, glass moving, etc (requires ability to lift heavy items)

See President Dan if you can volunteer.

Paul Harris+ Awards:  Several members have obtained enough PH points to be awarded PH+ pins.  We will pick a night in April to award these to the generous recipients.   Bob Scheidt will first contact awardees to confirm that they would like to use their points for the PH+ award as opposed to using the points to honor another with a PH award.

New Member Projects:  Lily Lynch and Stephen Schwock will combine their funds to do a project focused on helping the homeless with care packages.  They are currently looking for an organization partner that they can work with to accomplish this project.  The plan is to create a sustainable way to keep this ongoing over time.  Lori Martinez will use her funds to support Rochester Global Connections - International Studies Job Fair.  A raffle will be held and Lori's project will supply goods for the gift baskets.

2024/25 District Grant:  Lynn Wozniak has identified a project to support the Notre Dame Learning Center and will submit our club's grant application for this project.  Funds for chrome books and field trips are needed by this tutoring program.

The Major General Norbert Rappl signs have been installed!
