Terri Bastuk was the note-taker tonight. Thanks Terri!
Bob Scheidt updated the club on the successful results from the Pasta Dinner. Please see Bob's separate email for all the details. Great job everyone!
No club meeting this week on December 8th. About 15 people are working with Terri and Elena on packing and delivering 100 Holiday Baskets to the Community Cupboard on Wednesday. The rest of us can spend an hour or so Wednesday night putting Service Above Self by being of service to someone else who needs some loving or support or material help this time of year.
We will have our usual Zoom meeting on Wednesday, Dec 15th at 6:30pm. Patrina will be sharing the new ICARE website that was built with the funding from our 2021 District Grant. She will also tell us about the work that ICARE is doing and has planned. Please join us.
There will be a new Zoom meeting link starting next week for the December 15th meeting. Look for it in the meeting announcement email next week.
Irondequoit Boy Scout Pack and Troop #233 presented to the club. The Troop had quite the Troop - Jesse Knoth, District Executive, Seneca Waterways Council, - City of Rochester, Irondequoit and Brighton and Rotarian, Derek Darling Committee Chair, Colleen Patterson-Club Master, John Clements- Assistant Club Master and Ken Patterson Scout Master.
As Irondequoit Rotary has agreed to charter Troop #233, the Scout Leadership wanted to emphasize that this is a partnership. They want both groups to benefit from the relationship. The presenters reviewed their present leadership structure and shared that there is a succession plan every two years.
The Troop has many goals including leadership, outdoor activities (1x/month Sept-May) , summer camp (1x/year), high adventure camp (1x every 2 years), community service (monthly), troop meetings (1x/1x/month Sept-May).
The current troop states are that they have eight active adult leaders, twenty active scouts, three active Eagle Scouts, and two approaching Eagle Scouts.
The troop provides training, properties, activities, and fundraising opportunities. They look forward to a true partnership.
Conscious fines - many dollars for chartering the boy scout troop, Doug Decker serving as the liaison to the troop, Dan Dwyer's quick recovery, and a very successful pasta dinner as Bob Scheidt shared final numbers tonight. Friendly barbs regarding The Ohio State and Michigan's football performance, dollars donated to a pillar of St. Kateri Parish, and a friend to many Irondequoit Rotarians, Lisa Cole.
