National Night Out:  Balloons, Smiles & Community Vibes!

The Irondequoit Rotary Club had a blast handing out balloons at National Night Out last week! We loved seeing all the happy faces and connecting with our awesome neighbors. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and shared the fun! 💙🎉
👮‍♀️🚓 What’s National Night Out?
It’s a big block party held across the country where neighbors, local police, and community groups come together to hang out, build trust, and have a good time. Think music, games, food, and good vibes — all about making our community safer and stronger!

Thanks especially to Louis DiPrima for leading the event.

Camp Haccamo:  camp season is over and was a huge success as always.  180 campers had a great time at camp and their families enjoyed a thankful respite from caregiving.  Special thanks to Ray Holla for all he does for the camp throughout the year but even more so during camping season.

Pasta Dinner:  Bishop Kearney has been reserved for Nov.2 for our Pasta Dinner.  HOLD THE DATE!  The Kithen has been totally updated and looks unbelivable according to Bob Spatola who recently visited.  Pasta Committee looking to add new members, see Bob Scheidt if interested.

Bocce & Steak Roast:   August 27th at Camp Eastman.  Please let Lou DiPrima know if you are attending so he can order the correct number of steaks.   Deadline to RSVP is August 20th.

New Touchscreen Voting Machine Demonstration:  Joey Pierleoni is planning to have our club sponsor an event for the town to see the new voting machines.  More details in the near future.

City of Rochester Rotary Clubs are holding a UNITE FOR GOOD service project.  They will be painting the Open Door Mission on 9/12 and 9/13.  See BROCHURE if you can volunteer.   First 30 Rotarians signing up get a free t-shirt.

DUES ARE DUE….SEE LYNN WOZNIAK!!!

Program Notes

Ann Cunningham is the Executive Director of OASIS Rochester.  She is a longtime Irondequoit resident and a member of the Town Board.  Rochester Oasis is an organization centered on opportunities in lifelong learning, health, wellness and social engagement.  Oasis offers a broad range of stimulating educational classes – from the arts and humanities to wellness, fitness and travel. Members receive a catalog of opportunities three times a year.  Membership is free and open to anyone 50 and up in Rochester and surrounding counties.

Oasis has served more than 10,000 people in the Finger Lakes area and over 360,000 nationwide.  There are 8 Oasis centers in the country.  Rochester has been a center since the 1980's.  It became a non-profit in 2021.  Our very own Dick Butler is President of the Board for Oasis Rochester.  There are 2 paid staff members and over 75 volunteers.

Oasis “Everywhere” is a new program that allows you to take classes online from the other centers nationally.  Volunteers are needed for: Instructors, Tutors (they tutor elementary students in Churchvill-Chili and Greece), Welcomers, Resistration workers, etc.

Funding for the center is available from some state and country grants but they are always in need of private donations.
