Business Meeting tonight. President Bob shared the good news that he has secured a title sponsor for the upcoming Pasta Dinner with a $2,500 donation by Paris-Kirwan Insurance!! The Town of Irondequoit will issue a proclamation to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Pasta Dinner on Tuesday, October 15th at 7pm at the Town Hall. Please attend and wear red. Fun time was had by President Bob, Dave Shaheen, Rocco Leone and Jim Kozlowski at the District 7120 Golf Tournament last Friday. Unfortunately the group started on the WRONG course but eventually figured it out and played well to finish in the middle of the pack... Huge honor by many in the club to witness the return of Dom Fantauzzo and his son Mark on Honor Flight this past Sunday. Emotional event well attended by our club. Budget review shows that we are in good shape financially. Still working on determining the use of money donated for Pat Torre to be used in some memoriam. Literacy committee (BJ Cunningham & Kenn) will work with 3rd grade teachers to determine if the Dictionary Program should be updated in some way. Anyone interested in helping, see BJ. Committee will report back to the Board on how the project will move forward after this year. This year, dictionaries are already purchased and will be distributed to all 3rd grade classes in Irondequoit as it has been done in the past. President Bob reviewed several Membership Initiatives with the focus on getting prospective members involved in hands-on charity projects as well as targeting already known people who we know would be great members. Jennie Gugino, PR Director, reviewed ideas for getting our name out in media especially for upcoming Polio Day. There will be an effort to reach out to "significant others" of deceased members to keep them involved in club activities. Several members volunteered to help. Holiday Basket party will be December 11th. The committee running this event will recommend a proposal for using the money previously spent on gift cards. Dan Dwyer presented a project to our Board that involved the Raise the Glass foundation. The board approved a go ahead to get more details. Proposal is that our club will be the key coordinating club to host a Wine Tasting event in May. Proceeds to go to Camp Haccamo or other children charities TBD. More to come in the upcoming weeks. See Terri Bastuk if you would like to volunteer for the Irondequoit Fall Festival at I-square on Saturday, September 28th. Sunday, Sept. 22nd is the Marathon Thru Irondequoit. Stop by Kim Miranda's house from 8-12 for a yard party. See Ray Holla/Rocco Leone if interested in volunteering for the Camp Haccamo Adult weekend dinner on Saturday Oct. 12. |
