Membership update: We will be setting dates soon to induct Jill Orologio, Elena DiPrima, and Andrea Sauer. Thanks to "Super Rotarian" Lynn Wozniak for sending in our club's paperwork for Rotary Citation for 2019-2020. We have qualified by competing all the requirements. 14 clubs in District 7120 have qualified so far. Chris & Evie's Place Playhouse was delivered to Camp Haccamo at the Rotary Sunshine Campus on May 14th. This club project is dedicated in memory to long-time Irondequoit Rotarian and Camp Haccamo Past-President Chris Franco and his beloved wife Evie who passed together in 2015. Many thanks to the so many people and organizations who made this possible. A fitting ribbon-cutting will be scheduled in better times ahead. Thanks, especially, to President Bob for his leadership in making this happen. High School Scholarship Update: committee headed up by Lee Steinfeldt has selected one of the 6 applicants from Eastridge. West Irondequoit has selected a student and we are still trying to reach Bishop Kearney for their applicants. Several members of the club volunteered to help distribute masks at Irondequoit Town Hall this week - "Service Above Self!" The 3rd grade school books have been delivered to Louis DiPrima and they will be distributed to the students by the school this summer. Update on Food Distribution project: President Bob and Dave Long are working with Lakeside Neighborhood Association in Irondequoit to set up the policies for this project. Plan is to connect volunteer Rotarians who will pick up and deliver food to people who need food deliveries. Please see President Bob if you would like to volunteer for this project. A large drum of Hand Sanitizer has been purchased and donated to St. Ann's with delivery any day now. It will be used by the facility to replenish smaller hand sanitizer dispensers. It will be placed in a public location with signage from our club. Kudos to Dan Dwyer for making this connection with Raise a Glass Foundation and President Bob for making arrangements with St. Ann's. Thanks to Terri Bastuk for once again successfully completing a grant application for the District Simplified Grant. We were awarded a $1500 grant for a project to assist Rochester Community Inclusive Rowing. Their mission is to create a supportive, INCLUSIVE and fully accessible environment for veterans and people with ANY challenge who want to come to the water and learn to row, at NO COST to them. VP Tom Kosanke is looking at all options for the Installation Dinner at the end of June. More to come! |
