Supervisor Rory Fitzpatrick
On August 10, Rory Fitzpatrick, Irondequoit Town Supervisor was our guest speaker. Supervisor Fitzpatrick is enjoying his new role and says the Board is working well together.

Rory is totally focused on what is happening within the Town, its needs and its people. He is working hard to better the working environment for the Town employees in all departments. Improving communication and training at all levels to help overcome the challenge of a campus with multiple buildings. In the end they will all better serve the townspeople.

Monthly Lunches with seniors, Supervisor Saturdays, and Reading to the little ones at the library are some of the public outreach he is involved in.  Irondequoit Rotary  will be included in an upcoming meeting with non-profit organizations within the town.  We will be assesing needs within the community and how we can help support the town.

He is increasing the Town’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts, called One Irondequoit by adding a DEI Officer that is not dedicate to any one group, but will work with and for all racial and ethnic groups in the Town.  We will have a new DEI advisory group that is composed of representatives from local racial and ethnic organizations.

Rory promoted Erin McGee to Town DPW Commissioner. She is the Town’s first female Commissioner of Public Works. She has undertaken many new projects already.  We celebrate (quietly) that she is the first female in this position.  But are most proud that she was selected because of her qualities, knowledge, experience, and being the best candidate for the position!

Common threads througout tonight discussion were the needs of the town  and having the right people in the best positions regardless of any political affiliation.

Other discussions were involving The Irondequoit Police Department (staffing, hybrid vehicles, and tazers), Streets, Trees, Reassesment (Being proactiv on communications and education for property owners regarding next years Assessment), Newsletter, Media, ATV's (the groups driving unsafely through town), the uses of Rescue Plan Money from the federal government, and a Bulldozer!

Thank you Supervisor Rory Fitzpatrick for your service!
