Meeting Notes
Vice President Dave Shaheen filled in for President Bob Spatola.

Everyone should keep Jerry Marzano and Dom Fantauzzo in thoughts as prayers as they continue to struggle with health issues.

Thanks to everyone who helped out at the I-Square Fall Festival as our booth was a huge success.  Irondequoit Rotarians have raised $1400 for Camp Haccamo Challenge Walk - thanks to all who contributed or raised funds.

There will be a Tap Take-over at I-Square on Oct. 28th for Camp Haccamo.   See Rocco Leone if you want to be a bartender at this event.

We will distribute 548 Dictionaries this year starting on Oct. 13th at St. John Neumann School.

Pasta Dinner ticket sales so far are on par with last year.  Keep up good work.  Dom Fantauzzo is meeting with Costco and BJ's to secure donations.  Rubino's is donating the pasta again this year.

Sunday, October 29th will be the Haunted Hampton night.  We will sponsor a room.
Program Notes
Shelly Roberts from Cure Childhood Cancer Association was our speaker.   Cure was started in 1976 by a group of parents who lost a child to Cancer.  They set out on a mission to help parents with kids who are diagnosed with cancer.  They help out on the emotional,  financial, and educational aspects.  Before Cure worked with the local hospitals, parents could not spend the night with their children in the hospital.  Cure worked to change this hospital rule and bring in roll-away beds for parents.  Once their child is diagnosed with cancer, the parents are assisted by Cure to walk though the entire process as it is overwhelming at first.  Offering small things like parking passes help parents make their way through this ordeal.  There is other financial assistance for parents with lower incomes as well as tutor programs for the children including siblings.   They serve over 800 families per year in various ways including picnics and parties for all.  Around 50 children per year are newly diagnosed with cancer and become clients for the whole process over many years.  Cure is only in Rochester and serves mostly Monroe county residents.  They have a $400,000 annual budget that supports 3 full time staff and several part time parent advocates who work at the hospital.
