Meeting Notes
Vice President Dave Shaheen filled in for President Bob Spatola who sadly was away due to the passing of his brother-in-law (Harry French).

Dom Fantauzzo sent out an email to help members SELL MORE TICKETS to the upcoming Pasta Dinner.   Please utilize this resource.  Please also submit checks for 10 tickets with an 8.5x11 sheet which lists the ticket buyer for the sign. A list of all past ticket purchasers was also sent out so please see the list and try not to duplicate efforts.

Last Saturday's tour to cut the ribbon on 10 Little Free Library Book Houses was a huge success thanks to the coordination by Terri Bastuk.  Great turnout and many happy Irondequoit residents who say the book houses are more than a library in that they have promoted community in their neighborhood.

Last Monday's New Member Meeting at Dick Butler's house:  3 guests attended and were told about Rotary by 7 club members.  This has been a very successful way to recruit new members thanks to Dick and Linda Butler who host these "Not Your Father's Rotary Club" meetings.

Rocco Leone:  Camp Haccamo Challenge Walk coming up quickly on Oct. 8th at Sunshine Campus in Rush. Focus is on increasing donations from NON-Rotatarians.  $15,000 goal this year much higher than previous years.  Need volunteers to help out at the walk.

Ray Holla:  Our Club will work the dinner for the Adults Weekend on Saturday, October 7th at Camp Haccamo.  Sign up with Ray.

Lee Steinfeldt passed out flyers for the East Irondequoit Student Scholarship Fundraiser to be held at I-Square on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 7pm
Program Notes
Our speaker this evening was District Governor Don Milton accompanied by his life partner Ruth Cronkwright and Assistant Governor Linda Kohl.   DG Don presented PE Dave Shaheen with this year's Rotary banner.  Ruth keeps Don organized - he would not be here without her!  This year's Rotary theme is "Rotary - Making a Difference."  There is a People of Action Campaign where our club is asked to create 1-2 minute videos vignettes that we can submit to show how we are making a difference.  Don is promoting Membership increases and has asked us to keep up our "Not Your Father's Rotary" meetings as they are working and he would like to see more younger members!  There are many opportunities for our club to obtain a RI President citation.  Click here for brochure to see how we can participate.  Next May 4-6 is the District Conference in Saratoga Springs, NY.  Saturday of the conference will be a Kentucky Derby theme.  Don asked our club to evolve our Strategic Plan by updating our 3-5 year goals.  Polio Eradication is getting closer and closer but still needs our support.  Bill Gates committed $1.2B for the cause.  Just had a case in Afganistan so need to wait another 3 years to claim eradication.  The District 7120 clubs gave $111 per member to Rotary Foundation so exceeded goal of $100 per member.  Don's personal agenda is to make a difference locally with child poverty.  50% of local children live in poverty so he would like to see District 7120 club programs to help with children hunger.  Don reminded us that he follows a Bone Theory:  Wish Bone to set goals, Back Bone to do the hard work to reach your goals, and Funny Bone to enjoy yourself as you work on your goals.
